About Us
Our mission is to refresh the community.
Upstreet Craft Brewing started as most beer companies do — a few buds sitting around slugging back homebrew and talking big game of dropping it all to open a brewery of our own. Before we knew it we were in too deep to turn back and just kept going until we began to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Turns out it was the best idea we ever had.
Truth be told, this whole ride really started years ago when Hogie brewed his first batch of beer. He kickstarted an obsession back in 2006 that would drive him to create hundreds of batches, brewed in kitchens, barns, backyards and basements; some great ones, some “interesting” ones, and some crazy ones. Many people have tasted Hogie’s homebrews over the years, and his party trick became something of a local legend.
It wasn’t until a few years later when we all got together that the pieces all started falling into place and things began to escalate quickly. We had no idea what we were doing, still don’t really, but planning and support from a lot of amazing people have helped us face countless challenges that popped up along the way.
Today, Upstreet is a B-Corp certified company with three locations across two provinces, a line of craft sodas, and beer on shelves in all four Atlantic provinces. We hope to continue to grow and refresh our communities.

Hogie turned his love of beer into a love of brewing, making beers for weddings and family events that would later turn into our flagships.
Islanders Mitch, Hogie and Joey decided they would risk it all on a crazy idea to open a brewery with a focus on community and sustainability – and are we ever glad they did.
Upstreet officially opened its doors on June 26, 2015 with 3 flagships, a 91 seat taproom, and a helluva lot of spirit. June 26th has since been known as Upstreet Day.
The Original Gangstas that started it all.
In October 2015, we purchased our first bottler and excitedly made our first delivery to Oak Tree liquor store.
From humble beginnings..
On April 25, 2016, we brewed our 100th batch of beer and we just had to celebrate how far we’ve come, and how far we aspired to go.
We never hoped beyond our wildest dreams that in one year, we would need to expand to keep up with demand. But on May 6, 2016, we added new tanks to increase production and supply our beer to Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.
We’ve since expanded two more times to keep up with growing demand.
A portion of the proceeds of every Do Gooder APA sold supports local community and arts initiatives through the Do Good Fund.
Growing fast and growing close!
At the Atlantic Canadian Beer Awards, we took home a silver medal for the DeNovo I and gold for our Flipside Series Black IPA. It was our first win, but not our last!
Winning this award helped cement Upstreet as a leading purpose-driven business in Atlantic Canada.
We were so pumped. And dapper. Just look at that cap.
We went on to win the award for Retail Excellence in 2017.
