PEI Craft Beer Week – Here’s the Upstreet Rundown

It’s the most wonderful time of the year- PEI Craft Beer Week is back and we can’t wait to celebrate with you! A full seven days to appreciate the always expanding craft beer community feels pretty special to us. We consider ourselves very lucky to be one of 10 amazing breweries on this tiny province- and we couldn’t have made it this far without Islanders supporting and loving local products. Thank YOU!

This week is jam-packed with fun events to check out, here’s what you can expect from us:

The signature event of 2021 is Beef & Brews- a showcase of delicious local beef from PEI cattle producers alongside some of your favourite tasty beers. Each brewery had a chance to get creative and pair one of their brews with a featured beef dish and we think you’ll love what we came up with! The Upstreet Dipper is a shaved ribeye steak roast braised in Commons au jus, served with Commons cheddar cheese sauce on a crispy house-made Neapolitan bun. And of course, paired with the one and only Commons Czech Style Pilsner (our very first beer, ever.) Come grab this yummy duo June 5th, 6th, 9th-12th from 12 pm to 8 pm.

To kick things off, we will be hosting Tours n’ Tunes at the Upstreet taproom. Our talented and knowledgeable brewers will be doing four guided tours of the brewery, beginning on the hour at 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm and 4 pm (call us to book your tour – 902-894-0543) There are limited spots available and we’d love to have you. Each tour lasts approximately one hour and will include a tasty flight of beers.

As for tunes, our very own Josh Carter from Calm Baretta will be playing two awesome sets from 3:30-4:30 pm and again at 5-6 pm.

On Tuesday, June 8th from 7-9 pm come join our brewmaster and co-owner Mike Hogan for a sensory panel. What is this, you may be asking? It shall be a lovely evening of expanding your palate and creating flavour profiles for all of your favourite Upstreet products- tasting craft beer the way the pros do! The cost of this event is $15 and includes 6 x 4oz sample glasses. 

On Thursday the 10th, PEI Beer Guy himself will be here hosting a wicked trivia night from 7-9 pm. Think you got what it takes? Expect questions about everyone’s favourite beverage throughout history, pop culture and more! Please sign up your team of four to six people by calling us at the taproom. 

The grand finale… Fireworks Release & Tasting will take place on Saturday the 12th from 3-4 pm and you don’t want to miss it. Our collaborative beer with the Inn at Bay Fortune is back for the third year in a row. Made with ingredients straight from the culinary farm, this complex Farmhouse Ale is as local as it gets. Come be one of the first to try this delicious brew!
